The rules and terms that govern your membership and use of LifeRegistry.

Last Updated: 15 March 2025

Important – Please Read Carefully

By joining LifeRegistry, you acknowledge that you are entering a structured, rules‑based membership framework and not a contract for insurance, a funeral plan, or a savings product. Membership does not create individual entitlement or guarantees. All contributions are discretionary and subject to available reserves and the Registry Rules.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the LifeRegistry website or applying for membership, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and the Registry Rules. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Membership Eligibility

Membership is open to UK residents aged 18 and over who meet the age criteria set out in the current Registry Rules. Applications are assessed against these published criteria, and we may decline an application that doesn't meet them.

3. Fees & Payments

Your one‑time Joining Fee is a setup fee paid when you join and isn't refundable. Your Annual Membership Fee then renews automatically on your saved card each year — cancel anytime before renewal, with no lock-in. We'll always give at least 30 days' notice before any fee change.

4. Discretionary Framework

Contributions are pooled and discretionary. No individual entitlement, savings, or guarantee exists. Payments are subject to eligibility, moratorium periods, and available reserves.

5. Moratorium & Eligibility

Your first 12 months are your foundation year, with your Digital Vault and affairs organised from day one. From months 13–36 your family can receive up to £3,000, and from month 37 the full £6,000 (subject to the rules and available reserves). If you cancel and rejoin, this timeline starts afresh from your new join date.

6. Cancellation & Rejoining

You may cancel at any time — just let us know in writing (email is fine). If you later choose to rejoin, you'll complete a new application and pay a new Joining Fee, and the eligibility timeline begins again from your new join date.

Detailed Terms & Conditions

  • LifeRegistry / the Registry: LifeRegistry Ltd (trading as LifeRegistry).
  • Member / You: The individual whose membership application has been accepted.
  • Membership Fee: The annual membership fee charged to the payment card on file.
  • Joining Fee: The one‑time, non‑refundable joining fee.
  • Registry Rules: The governing document detailing eligibility, discretion, and operational protocols.
  • Discretionary Contribution: A potential payment decided at the sole discretion of the Registry, subject to rules and available reserves.
  • Moratorium Period: The initial period of membership during which certain discretionary considerations are not available.

2.1 To apply for membership, you complete the online application form and pay the Joining Fee. Please provide accurate and complete information so we can set up your membership smoothly.

2.2 We may request proof of age and residency. Applications are assessed against our published eligibility criteria, and we may decline an application that doesn't meet them.

2.3 Membership is personal and non‑transferable. It begins when we send you a confirmation email.

3.1 The Joining Fee is a one‑time setup fee, payable by card when your membership is activated, and isn't refundable.

3.2 The Annual Membership Fee is charged automatically to the payment card you provide when you join. You must keep a valid payment card on file. If a payment fails, we will notify you; failure to remedy within 14 days may result in suspension or cancellation.

3.3 If we ever need to adjust the Annual Membership Fee, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice beforehand. You're always free to cancel before a change takes effect if it doesn't suit you.

4.1 Membership contributions are pooled and used for Registry operations and, where applicable, the discretionary contribution framework. They are not held in individual accounts and do not accumulate personal balances.

4.2 Any contribution is at the sole discretion of the Registry, exercised in accordance with the Registry Rules and available reserves at the time. No member has a right to demand or expect a payment.

4.3 The maximum contribution bands are as stated in the moratorium schedule, but actual payment may be less depending on reserves and individual circumstances.

5.1 Months 0–12: No eligibility for discretionary contributions.

5.2 Months 13–36: Partial eligibility, capped at up to £3,000.

5.3 Month 37 onwards: Full eligibility band, capped at up to £6,000.

5.4 Eligibility builds through continuous membership under these Terms. If you cancel and later rejoin, the eligibility timeline simply starts again from your new join date.

6.1 You may cancel your membership at any time by written notice (email is acceptable). Cancellation takes effect from the date we receive your notice, provided all due fees are paid up to that date.

6.2 In rare cases, the Registry may end a membership — for example, where fees remain unpaid, information provided is false, or a member acts in a way that seriously harms the Registry or its members. We'll always act reasonably and explain our decision.

6.3 If you cancel and later wish to rejoin, you'll submit a new application and pay a new Joining Fee, and the eligibility timeline begins again from your new join date.

7.1 We may update these Terms or the Registry Rules from time to time. Changes will be communicated via email or website notice at least 14 days before taking effect, where practicable.

7.2 Unless otherwise stated, changes apply to all members prospectively. Changes will not affect eligibility for events that have already occurred. Where we change eligibility criteria, it will generally apply to new members only, but we reserve the right to apply changes to all members with reasonable notice if necessary for sustainability.

8.1 In the event of a member's death, a representative (e.g., next of kin, executor) must notify us in writing and provide:

  • A certified copy of the death certificate;
  • Proof of the representative's identity and authority (e.g., grant of probate or letter of administration);
  • A completed notification form (available on request).

8.2 Once verified, we will assess eligibility for any discretionary contribution in accordance with the Rules then in force. The process may take up to 28 days.

9.1 LifeRegistry is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from membership or use of our services. We do not guarantee any payment or outcome.

9.2 Where we are found liable, our total liability is limited to the Membership Fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. This keeps the framework fair and sustainable for all members.

10.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
